第頁共頁DIY自己的面具幼教小班英語活動教案Asaparentoranearlychildhoodeducator,youmightstrugglewithfindinghands-on,engagingactivitiesforyoungchildrenthatalsopromotetheircognitive,motor,andsocialdevelopment.However,onesimplebutcreativeactivitythatcantickallthoseboxesandimprovetheirEnglishvocabularyandcommunicationskillsismakingtheirownmaskorfacepainting.WhyMasksandFacePaintingMatter?Apartfrombeingafunandimaginativewaytopretendplay,masksandfacepaintingcanoffereducationalbenefitsforchildrenofdifferentagesandneeds,including:Developingfineandgrossmotorskills:Cutting,drawing,painting,andgluingrequirechildrentousetheirhands,arms,andfingersinpreciseandcoordinatedwaysthatimprovetheirhand-eyecoordination,dexterity,andmusclecontrol.Enhancingcreativityandartisticexpression:Masksandfacepaintingallowchildrentoexploredifferentcolors,patterns,textures,anddesigns,andexpresstheirthoughts,feelings,andpreferencesinanon-verbalway.Encouragingsocialandemotionallearning:Masksandfacepaintingcanpromptconversationsandinteractionsbetweenchildren,astheysharetheircreations,complimenteachother,andpretendtobesomeoneorsomethingelse.Theycanalsofosterempathy,respect,andculturalawareness,aschildrenlearnaboutdifferenttraditionsandidentities.ImprovingEnglishlanguageabilities:Makingmasksorpaintingfacescaninvolvelabelinganddescribingbodyparts,colors,shapes,andemotionsinEnglish,aswellasfollowinginstructions,askingforhelp,andgivingfeedback.ActivityPlan:DIYYourOwnMaskThisactivityplanisdesignedforasmallgroupofchildrenaged3-5,whohavebasicEnglishskillsandareeagertolearnnewwordsandexpressionsrelatedtomasksandfacialfeatures.Theexpectedtimeforthisactivityisaround30-45minutes,dependingonthechildren'spaceandinterest.Herearethematerialsandstepsyouwillneed:Materials:WhitecardstockpaperScissorsGluePaintormarkersElasticstringorribbonMagazinesorpicturesofdifferentmasksandfacesSteps:Introducethetopicofmasksandfacialfeaturestochildrenbyshowingthempicturesofdifferentmasksandfacesandaskingthemwhattheynoticeaboutthem.Usesimplequestionsandvocabulary,suchas:Whatdoyouseeinthispicture?Whatcolorsdoyousee?Whatpartsofthefacecanyouname?Howdoyouthinkpeopleusemasks?Whichmaskdoyoulikebest?Why?2.Demonstratehowtomakeabasicmaskfromwhitecardstockbyfoldingitinhalfandcuttingoutholesfortheeyesandmouth.Encouragechildrentodothesame,butemphasizethattheycanmodifytheshape,size,andfeaturesoftheirmasksastheywish,usingscissors,paint,ormarkers.3.Provideavarietyofmaterialsforchildrentodecoratetheirmaskswith,suchaspaint,markers,glitter,stickers,orcut-outshapes.InvitethemtouseEnglishwhendescribingtheirchoices,suchas"Iwanttouseredpaintforthenose"or"Ilikestarsonmymask".4.Assistchildreninattachingtheelasticstringorribbontotheirmasks,allowingthemtotrythemonandadjustthesizeandfitifneeded.Encouragethemtolookinthemirrorandimaginethemselvesasadifferentcharacteroranimal.5.Concludetheactivitybyhavingeachchildpresenttheirmasktothegroup,describingitsfeatures,emotion,orstory.EncourageotherchildrentoaskquestionsorgivefeedbackusingEnglish,suchas"Whatanimalareyoupretendingtobe?"or"Ilikethebluecoloronyourmask".PossibleVariationsandAdaptations:Tomaketheactivitymorechallenging,youcanprovideathemeorpromptforthemasks,suchas"fantasycreatures","superheroes",or"weatherelements".ThiscanencouragechildrentousemorespecificEnglishwordsandphrases,suchas"dragonwings","lightningbolt",or"cloudeyes".Tomaketheactivitymoresensory-rich,youcanadddifferenttexturesandmaterialstothemasks,suchasfeathers,cottonballs,yarn,orpasta.ThiscanhelpchildrenexploremoreadjectivesandverbsinEnglish,suchas"soft","rough","fuzzy",or"thick".Tomaketheactivitymorecollaborativeandinclusive,youcaninvitechildrentomakemasksforeachother,orworktogetheronagiantmaskthatrepresentstheclassoracertainvalueortheme.Thiscanpromoteteamwork,communication,andrespectfordiversity.Conclusion:DIYmasksandfacepaintingcanbeaversatileandmeaningfulwaytoengagechildreninhands-onlearningthatcombinescreativity,motorskills,socialization,andlanguagedev
