SCOPEANDCLASSIFICATION
ThisIPCstandardpresentsacceptanceguidelinesforthesolarpanelinfinalmoduleassembly.Theintentofthisstandardistocovercrystallinesolarmodules.Themodulescanvaryinsizeandcellnumber.Someofthecontentmaybeapplicabletootherphotovoltaicmodulessuchasthinfilm.Thisincludesjunctionboxesandotherattributesthatneedtobeinspected.Forexample,junctionboxesusedinsolarpanelsincludeinspectioncriteriaforsealantsandpottingcompoundsusedintheattachment.Thesealantsandpottingcompoundsusedcouldhavecrackingandmoistureingresssoavisualinspectionqual-itysystemwouldneedtobeputinplacetodetermineacceptabilitywhichthissubcommitteewillhelptoaddress.
Thisdocumentcoversthemostcommondesigns;however,designsvarygreatlyandcontinuetoevolve.Consequently,exceptionsorotherstandardsmayneedtobespecified.Forexample,sectionsonframeswouldnotapplytoframelessmod-ules.Also,modulesforBuildingIntegratedPhotovoltaic(BIPV)applicationsshouldcomplywithrelevantbuildingcodestandards.ElectricalperformanceandsafetyareoutsideofthescopeofthisstandardandcanbereferredtointherelevantIEC,UL,IEEEandregionspecificstandards.
