“There be“ Structure,寧鄉(xiāng)一中：鄒鴻鷹,一、在there+be結(jié)構(gòu)中，須謂語在前，主語在后，形成主謂倒裝。there在這一結(jié)構(gòu)中，僅起引導(dǎo)作用，本身無詞義。例如：,There are two maps on the wall.,引導(dǎo)詞,謂語,主語,二、在there+be結(jié)構(gòu)中，謂語動詞應(yīng)與其緊鄰的主語保持一致。例如：,1. In it there are all kinds of books, news papers and magazines. (NM ET 1999) 2. In mine there was a flashlight, a map, a knife, a first-aid kit, some matches, candles, food and clothes.(2002 Beijing) 3. In the bedroom there is a bed, a sofa, a desk and a chair. (NMET 2003),三、在there+be結(jié)構(gòu)中，be有時態(tài)的變化，也可加入情態(tài)動詞。例如：,1. There is going to be a football match tonight. 2. There were many children in the park yesterday. 3. There must be no more time left. 4. There hasn t been any rain for some days. 5. There used to be a cinema here before the war. 6. There will be an important game next month.,四、there+be結(jié)構(gòu)的否定式。 (一)將not加在be動詞或助動詞之后，作主語的名詞前常常帶有aanany. 例如：,(二)在主語前加no。 例如：,1. There arent any chairs in the room. 2. There wont be a meeting tonight. 3. There hasnt been any rain for ten days.,1. There is no smoking here. 2. There are no books I want. 3. There is no law against practising. (NMET 1999 ),五、在there+be結(jié)構(gòu)中，謂語動詞有時不用be而用seem to be(似乎)，happen to be(碰巧有碰巧是)，be likely to be(可能有可能是)，appear to be(似乎看起來)，live(生活有住著)，stand(佇立站著)，come，exist(存在)，rise(升起)，lie(位于有)，occur(發(fā)生有)，fly(飛)，remain(仍還有保持)等。例如：,1. There happened to be a bad flood that year. There seems to be some misunderstanding between the two brothers. 3. There once lived a poor farmer who had four sons. 4. One evening there flew over the city a little swallow. 5. There remained just twenty-eight pounds.,六.there+be結(jié)構(gòu)與have的比較。 從結(jié)構(gòu)上講，have前須有主語，而there+be結(jié)構(gòu)主語在 謂語be之后。 從意義上來講，二者都可譯為“有”，但have表示“所有” ，“占有”關(guān)系，譯成漢語為：“某人(物)擁有某(人)物”。 而there+be結(jié)構(gòu)表示“存在”關(guān)系，譯為“某地(某時)有某物 (某人)”。例如：,1. Xiao Li has an English-Chinese Dictionary. 2. There is an English-Chinese Dictionary on the desk.,七、there+be的非謂語結(jié)構(gòu)。 (一)在there+bc結(jié)構(gòu)中，非謂語動詞可作定語，相當(dāng)于一個定語從句。如果被修飾對象和非謂語動詞之間是主謂關(guān)系，且表示正在進行狀態(tài)，別用現(xiàn)在分詞作定語；如是動賓關(guān)系，且表示完成，則用過去分詞作定語；如表示將來發(fā)生的事情，則常用不定式主動式作定語. 例如：,There is a man waiting. (=who is waiting) for you downstairs 2. There were ten people killed. (=who had been killed) in the crash 3. There are ten soldiers to attend the celebration. (=who will attend the celebration.),(二)there being結(jié)構(gòu)作狀語，表示原因，相當(dāng)于一個原因狀語從句。例如：,1. There being nobody else at hand, I had to do it by myself. =As there was nobody else at hand, I had to do it by myself. 2. There being nothing else to do, we went home. = As there was nothing else to do, we went home.,(三). there to be 結(jié)構(gòu)作賓語,表示將來,相當(dāng)于一個賓語從句.例如: 1. I expect there to be no argument about it. =I expect that there wont be any argument about it. 2. Would you like there to be a meeting to discuss the problem? =Would you like that there would be a meeting to discuss the problem? 3. You would not want there to be another war. =You would not want that there would be another war.,八. there+be的習(xí)慣用法. 1. There is no+doing There is no knowing/telling. “沒法知道/說” There was no knowing how long he might be away. 2. There is no+n. There is no need/necessity (for somebody) to do “不必做” There is no possibility of doing “不可能做” 3.
