1、Introduction to installing and configuring ArcGIS for DesktopIntroductionArcGIS for Desktop is available as Basic, Standard, or Advanced. Both the concurrent-use andsingle-use versions are included in this media kit, which contains everything you need to installand use ArcGIS for Desktop on various

2、computers on a network. Basic, Standard, and Advancedare licensing product levels of ArcMap and ArcCatalog applications. Once installed, you canchange product levels or switch between concurrent-use and single-use versions withoutuninstalling or performing any installation action.Concurrent use lice

3、nseFor concurrent-use versions, a license allows ArcGIS for Desktop products to be used on anymachine. Each installation must access a license manager that contains the appropriate license forthe software seat type of (Advanced, Standard, or Basic). The license manager, installed on thenetwork, dict

4、ates the number of copies of Basic, Standard, or Advanced that can be runsimultaneously. The 10.2 license manager is required to run 10.2 ArcGIS for Desktop applications.Single-use licenseFor single use, authorization is required for each machine. Once the ArcGIS for Desktopinstallation is complete,

5、 you will be provided with the opportunity to authorize your single-useproduct. Installation overview stepsThe installation of ArcGIS for Desktop is a multistep process (with only the first three steps requiredfor ArcGIS for Desktop applications):1.Install ArcGIS 10.2 License Manager (if it doesnt a

6、lready exist for your use). If you intend touse ArcGIS for Desktop as a single-use version only, you do not need to install ArcGIS LicenseManager. For ArcGIS for Desktop 10.2 applications, the ArcGIS 10.2 License Manager is required.2.Install ArcGIS for Desktop.3. Complete theArcGIS Administratorwiz

7、ard to specify your product type, assign a licensemanager (if using a concurrent-use product), or authorize your software (if using a single-useproduct).4.Install any of the optional components available for ArcGIS for Desktop. These components(outlined below) may be required depending on your use o

8、f ArcGIS for Desktop.ArcGIS for Desktop componentsTo install a component, click the download link on the Customer Service site which downloads aself extracting .exe file. After the download completes, you have the option of starting the setupimmediately or running it manually. To run the setup manua

9、lly, browse to the downloaded foldercontaining the setup and run setup.exe.The download contains a PDF version of the license agreement displayed during each installation.The license agreement is located in the DesktopDocumentation folder.ArcGIS for Desktop contains the following components.ProductC

15、equirements page.NET SupportArcGIS for Desktop requires Microsoft .NET Framework Version 3.5 SP1. If .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is not detected on your machine,the ArcGIS for Desktop setup will not proceed.Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0Setup.exe is a setup bootstrapper executable that will auto

16、matically install msxml6 if it is not already installed and then run the setup.msi.If Msxml6 is not detected on your machine setup.msi, if run outside of setup.exe, the setup will not proceed.ArcGIS for Desktop geoprocessing requirementsArcGIS for Desktop geoprocessing tools require Python 2.7.3 and

17、 Numerical Python 1.6.1. If the ArcGIS for Desktop setup does not findeither Python 2.7.3 or Numerical Python 1.6.1 (NumPy) installed on the target computer, Python 2.7.3, Numerical Python 1.6.1, andMatplotlib 1.1.1 will all be installed. You can choose a Custom installation to unselect the Python f

If the ArcGIS for Desktop setup does not find either Python 2.7.3 or Numerical Python1.6.1 (NumPy) installed on the target computer, Python 2.7.3, Numerical P

20、ython 1.6.1, andMatplotlib 1.1.1 will all be installed during a complete installation. You can choose a Custominstallation to unselect the Python feature and avoid installing it. Additionally, if Python is installedduring the ArcGIS for Desktop installation, you will be provided with the opportunity

21、 to choose itsinstallation location. The Python installation location should not include spaces.Uninstalling PythonWhen Python, NumPy, and Matplotlib are installed by the ArcGIS for Desktop setup, they areuninstalled when you remove ArcGIS for Desktop. You can manually install Python 2.7.3, NumPy,an

22、d MatPlotLib prior to installing ArcGIS for Desktop. If Python and NumPy are both found by theArcGIS for Desktop setup program, Python, NumPy, and Matplotlib will not be installed and, as aresult, will not be uninstalled.Installation overviewInstalling ArcGIS DesktopThe ArcGIS for Desktop installati

Select your product type.If you will be using a concurrent-use product, you will need to define your 10.2 license manager.

27、eExisting_ArcGIS_Desktop_users.How to prepare to install ArcGIS for Desktop1.Close all applications on your computer.2.Verify that your computer meets thesystem requirements.3.If you will be using ArcGIS for Desktop Concurrent Use, determine the name of thelicense manager that you will be using for

28、ArcGIS for Desktop.4.Run the ArcGIS for Desktop setup.exe installation program.Note:You must obtain and install the appropriate language version of Internet Explorer 7.0 or higherprior to installing ArcGIS for Desktop.How to install ArcGIS for Desktop1.The ArcGIS for Desktop download offers the opti

29、on to start the installation after the fileshave been extracted. Choose this method or, to manually launch the setup program, use setup.exe.2.During the installation, read the license agreement and accept it, or exit if you do notagree with the terms.3.The setup program provides an option for a Comp

30、lete installation, which installs theapplications, style files, templates, and optionally licensed extensions. The Custominstallation option allows you to choose specific installation components.4.The installation location will be identified in the dialog box as follows or in the custom dialogbox, i

31、f a custom option was selected. An upgrade of 10.1 will not allow you to select or change theinstallation location. The installation parent location of an upgrade installation is retained and thesoftware is installed to Desktop10.2. For example, if ArcGIS 10.1 for Desktop wasinstalled to D:MyGISArcG

32、ISDesktop10.1, the 10.2 installation folder will beD:MyGISArcGISDesktop10.2. If you need to install to a different location, manually remove 10.1before starting the 10.2 installation.5.If Python is selected for installation, you must choose the installation location or select thedefault. The Python

33、installation location of 10.1 will also be retained during the 10.2 upgrade. SeePython requirementsfor more information.6.When the setup is complete theArcGIS Administrator Wizardis displayed allowing you toconfigure a Concurrent or Single Use authorization. Refer toThe ArcGIS Administrator fordetai

34、ls.Modifying installation featuresYou can add or remove components after installing the software. Seeinstallation components for more information.Adding ArcGIS for DesktopAdditional installation componentsThe additional ArcGIS for Desktop components, such as ArcGIS Tutorial Data, Data Interoperabili

35、tyextension, ArcGIS for Desktop VBA Compatibility, and ArcGIS for Desktop Developer Resources,can be installed separately, if they are required. The setups for each of these can be installed fromthe links available on the DVD startup dialog box.Note:To enable the VBA macro in the ArcGIS for Desktop

36、applications, you must complete the followingsteps:1.Install ArcGIS for Desktop.2.Install ArcGIS for Desktop VBA Compatibility Setup.3.Obtain a license for VBA. For /Concurrent Use products, you must obtain a license for VBA.See Obtaining a license file for more information. For Single Use products,

37、 your authorization filemust contain the VBA feature. See Obtaining an authorization file for more information.Authorizing your softwareInstalling ArcGIS DesktopAfter the installation is complete, the ArcGIS Administrator Wizard is displayed. You can also start this wizard to select or changea produ

38、ct at a later time by selecting the ArcGIS Administrator from Start All Programs ArcGIS ArcGIS Administrator.The ArcGIS Administrator assists you in configuring ArcGIS for Desktop. You will have two product types to select from: ConcurrentUse or Single Use.IConcurrent UseConcurrent Use products use

39、a centrally or locally installed 10.2 License Server. Follow these setups to complete the Concurrent Useproduct authorization.Step 1 : Select one of the three Concurrent Use products.Step 2 : Define a license manager. The License Manager defined must be a 10.2 License Manager. Once the License Manag

40、er isdefined for Concurrent Use products, the applications are ready to use.To install the License Manager and authorize it, see theLicense Manager Reference Guide.Single UseSingle Use products require authorization on individual machines for use. You will need the authorization codes sent from Esri

41、 CustomerService to the contact email address referenced in the sales order during the authorization process. This email includes the authorizationcodes issued for each license in the order. In addition to finding the information in the email, if you already have an Esri Global Account,you can log i

42、n to the Esri Customer Care site, click on Authorization & Provisioning, then click on a product name to obtain itsauthorization code. If you do not yet have an Esri Global Account, you can create one at and click on Create Account. You will receivean email confirmation and have access to Authorizat

43、ion & Provisioning on the Customer Care site.For ArcGIS for Desktop Single Use, the authorization code starts with the letters ESU or EVA, followed by nine numeric digits,for example, ESU123456789. Follow these steps to complete the Single Use product authorization. (Contact information:http:/ 1 : S

44、elect one of the three Single Use products.Step 2 : Click Authorize Now to launch the Software Authorization Wizard. The wizard will walk you through the online or offlineauthorization process.Online authorizationWith online authorization, the Software Authorization Wizard connects directly to the E

45、sri authorization site using secure socketslayer (SSL) from the deployed machine. Online authorization can be used if the machine on which the software has been installed isconnected to the Internet and is able to connect to https:/ . Online authorization can be performed by directly entering theaut

46、horization code in the Software Authorization Wizard or by creating a provisioning file (.prvc) in the Esri Customer Care Portal(https:/ ).For more information on Provisioning File, refer to theLicense Manager Reference Guide.Offline authorizationOffline authorization is used if the machine where Ar

47、cGIS for Desktop is installed does not have Internet connectivity. In this case, theauthorization process creates a text file which can be uploaded to the Esri authorization server from an Internet-connected machine or can besent in an email to Esri Customer Service to obtain an authorization respon

48、se file (.respc). This authorization response file can becopied to the machine whereArcGIS for Desktop is installed and used to authorize ArcGIS for Desktop without a directInternet connection.Step 3 : Upon opening the Software Authorization Wizard, you will be provided with three authorizationoptio

49、ns:I have installed my software and need to authorize itSelect this option to proceed with the authorization process by entering the authorization code you received from Esri Customer Service.I have already authorized the software and need to authorize additional extensionsThis option is used if you

50、 have already authorized the core ArcGIS for Desktop and now want to authorize any extensions. Authorizingadditional extensions acquired after authorizing core ArcGIS for Desktop can be done by starting ArcGIS Administrator from Start AllPrograms ArcGIS. Once in the ArcGIS Administrator utility, sel

51、ect the Desktop folder and select Authorize Now.I have received an authorization file from Esri and am now ready to finish the authorization processSelect this option if you have a provisioning file created from the Esri Customer care portal.Select the appropriate option and click Next.Step 4Here yo

52、u have the options to select online or offline methods of authorization, or authorize your Single Use product from a local licenseserver.Steps 5 and 6Provide your contact information and details in the next two dialog boxes. If you are using a provisioning file (online authorization only),this infor

53、mation will automatically be populated from the file.Step 7Enter your ArcGIS for Desktop authorization code starting with ESU or EVA followed by nine digits.Step 8Next, you will have the option to authorize any extensions. If you choose to authorize any extensions, the Software Authorization Wizardw

54、ill prompt you to enter the authorization codes for the extensions. If you choose not to authorize, the Software Authorization Wizardprovides the option to evaluate any extension in the next step.Step 9In this step you may choose to evaluate any extensions for which you have not provided an authoriz

55、ation code in the previous step.Online authorizationUse the online authorization and click Next to connect to the Esri Activation Site. Upon completion, you will receive a message thatauthorization is successful and the applications will be ready for use.Offline authorizationThe remaining steps are

56、applicable only to offline authorization.Step 10You will be requested to save your authorization information to disk as a file named authorize.txt. You can then upload the authorizationtext file or send an email with the file attached.If uploading the text file, an authorization response file will b

57、e generated to download.When sending an email with the text file attached, you will receive a return email from Esri with the authorization response file.After receiving the response file, start ArcGIS Administrator from Start All Programs ArcGIS to complete the authorization process.Step 11In the A

58、rcGIS Administrator, click the Desktop folder, select the appropriate Single Use product, then click Authorize Now.Step 12Select I have received an authorization file from Esri and browse to the (*.respc) file.
