IapproachedhimcautiouslyandaskedinEnglish,"Excuseme,canIhelpyou?"Heturnedtomewitharelievedsmileandsaid,"I'mlost.I'mtryingtofindtheCityMuseum,butIjustcan'tfigureouttheway."HisEnglishwasclear,buttherewasahintofworryinhisvoice.

Ifeltasenseofresponsibilitywellingupinsideme.IknewtheCityMuseumverywell;itwasoneofthemostfamouslandmarksinourcity.Itookadeepbreathandbegantoexplaintheroutetohim."First,"Isaid,pointingtothemainroadahead,"youneedtowalkalongthisstreetforabouttwoblocks.You'llpassabigsupermarketonyourleft."

Thetouristlistenedattentively,hiseyesfollowingthedirectionIwaspointing.Icontinued,"Afterpassingthesupermarket,turnrightatthenextintersection.There,you'llseeasmallpark.Walkthroughthepark,andontheotherside,there'sanarrowstreet."Itriedmybesttodescribeeverydetailclearly,hopinghecouldfindhiswaywithoutanytrouble.

AsIwasspeaking,Icouldn'thelpbutrecallmyownexperiencesofgettinglostinstrangeplaces.Irememberedthefeelingofhelplessnessandanxietythatcamewithnotknowingwheretogo.That'swhyIwasdeterminedtohelpthistouristasmuchasIcould.

Thetouristthankedmeprofusely,butstilllookedabitunsure.Ithoughtforamomentandsaid,"Ifyoudon'tmind,Icanwalkwithyouforawhiletomakesureyou'reontherighttrack."Hisfacelitupwithgratitude."Thatwouldbereallygreat!Thankyousomuch!"heexclaimed.

So,westartedwalkingtogether.Alongtheway,wechattedabit.HetoldmehewasfromAustraliaandhadcometoourcitytoexploreitsrichhistoryandculture.Iwasexcitedtosharesomelocalstoriesandinterestingfactsaboutourcitywithhim.Itwaslikeopeningawindowtoourworldforhim.

Whenwereachedthesmallpark,Ipointedtotheothersideandsaid,"Justgostraightthroughthere,andyou'llseethemuseumsoon.It'sabigbuildingwithauniquearchitecture."Thetouristlookedatmewithsincereappreciationandsaid,"You'vebeensuchabighelp.Ireallydon'tknowwhatIwouldhavedonewithoutyou."

Ifeltawarmglowinmyheart.Itwasasimpleactofkindness,butitbroughtsomuchjoytobothofus.AsIwatchedhimwalktowardsthemuseumwithconfidentsteps,Irealizedthathelpingothersnotonlymakesadifferencetothembutalsoenrichesourownlives.

Thisencountermademyday.Itwasareminderthatasmallgestureofkindnesscanbridgethegapbetweenstrangersandcreatebeautifulmemories.Whetherit'sshowingsomeonethewayphysicallyormetaphorically,everyactofhelpinghasthepowertobrightenupaperson'sworld.Iwalkedbackhome
