2there was a small boy living on a farm which seemed like so far away from other places.he _1_ to get up before sunrise every morning to start his chores (家務雜活) and out again _2_ to do the evening ones.during sunrise he would _3_ a break and climb up on the fence (圍欄) so he could see the house with golden _4_ in the distance.he _5_ how great it would be to live there and his mind would wander to imagine the modern equipment that might _6_ in the house.“if they could _7_ golden windows, then they must have _8_ nice things.”he then promised himself,“some day i will go there and see that wonderful place.”then one _9_ his father told him to stay at home and his father would do the chores.knowing that this was his _10_,he packed a sandwich and _11_ across the field towards the house with the golden windows._12_ the afternoon went on,he began to realize how he misjudged the distance and something else was very wrong.as he came near the house,he saw no _13_ windows but instead a place in bad _14_ of painting surrounded by a _15_ fence.he went to the door and _16_.a small boy very _17_ his age opened the door.he asked him if he had seen the house with the golden windows.the boy said “sure,i know.” and _18_ him to sit on the porch (門廊)as he sat there,he looked _19_ in the direction of his home and there the _20_ turned the ones.1a.supposedbplannedcmeantdneeded2a.laterblateclatestdthen3a.catchbreceivectakedbring4a.equipmentbwindowscdoorsdfence5a.thoughtbsensedcinspiredddesigned6a.appearbhidecgatherdexist7a.supportbaffordcraisedspend8a.otherbanothercothersdelse9a.afternoonbeveningcmorningdnight10a.rightbwaycideadchance11a.headedbclimbedcjumpeddlooked12a.whenbwhilecasdwith13a.ironbgoldencstonedwooden14a.statebshapecconditiondneed15a.pushedbbrokendowncpulldowndcut16a.beatbstruckcknockeddhit17a.close pressure from their parents to do well in school and in college.most students are always being told by their parents to study harder so that they can have successful future.although this may be good advice for those students who are very bright,it can have very bad results for many students who are not very bright enough at learning.unfortunately,a number of students actually kill themselves.others are after comfort in using drugs.some students, however,do bad things with groups of bad people and turn to crime.many of them have tried very hard at school but,in spite of their tries, have failed in certain examinations and have disappointed their parents.such students feel that they are less important than everyone else they meet and leave school before they have finished their study.it is surprising that although most japanese parents are anxious for their children to do well at school, they dont help them in any way.many parents feel that they are unable to help their children with their lessons and that it is their teachers job to help their children.to make matters worse,a lot of parents send their children to special schools called cram schools.these schools are open during the evening and on weekends, and their only purpose is to prepare students to pass exams.they dont try to educate students in any real sense of the world.it thus comes as a shock to realize that almost three quarters of the junior high school population attend these cram schools.ordinary japanese schools usually have rules about everything from the length of students hair to their clothes and things in their school bags.child psychologists (心理學家) now think that such strict rules often lead to a feeling of being unsafe and being unable to fit into society.they regard the rules as being harmful to the development of each student.they believe that no sense of moral values is developed and that such students are not given guidance nor training in becoming good citizens.1according to the passage,a lot of japanese students are unhappy at school because they _.awork very hardbfind they cant do well in schoolcfeel unimportantdare under too much pressure2because of their failure at school, some students _.ago to cram school for better educationbleave school without finishing their studycare against the school rulesdhave quarrels with their parents3in the third paragraph,“cram school”probably means the schools in which _.ayou can be taken good care of by the teachersbteachers are responsiblecyou learn as much as possible in a short time before taking the examsdstudents have their classes in the evening4which of the following statements is not true according to the passage?aa lot of parents in japan help their children with their studies.bcram schools cant provide a good education for their children.ca lot of parents in japan encourage their children to study hard.dmany students become criminals because of their failure.1there was a small boy living on a farm which seemed like so far away from other places.(完形填空第一段第一句)有一個住在離其他地方很遠的農場的小男孩。(1)there is a foreigner coming to our school tomorrow. (2)there is nothing left in the room. 2unfortunately,a number of students actually kill themselves.(閱讀理解第一段第五句)不幸地是,很多學生自殺了。(1)a number of students are fond of music. (2)the number of the students in my class is 52. (1)its strange that you should trust jane. (2)its no wonder that youve achieved so much success. (3)it turned out that our team won the game. (4)it matters a great deal to her what other people think of her.
