南京工程學(xué)院畢業(yè)設(shè)計(jì)說(shuō)明書(論文)第1頁(yè)Ultra-High-SpeedProfilerforAircraftPartsMachiningUHP-120B:DevelopmentGoalsandPerformanceKazuyaTanakaManagerDesigningSect.,EngineeringDept.1.IntroductionItisgenerallysaidthattheconditionssurroundingtheaircraftindustryhavebeenlessthanoptimalsincetheterroristattackofSeptember11,2001,buttheJapaneseaircraftindustryseemstobeinaslightlydifferentsituation.ThisobservationissupportedbythefactthattheDefenseAgencys“PX”(advancedanti-submarinepatrolplane)and“CX”(cargotransportplane)projectshaveapproved,andBoeing-andAirbus-relatedcontractshavenotdeclinesignificantly.Thankstotheseandotherfactors,suchasthefactthattheindustryisenteringtheequipmentreplacementphase,theJapaneseaircraftindustryiscurrentlyinrelativelygoodshape.Undertheinfluenceoftheglobalmarketneeds,thereisverystrongdemandforreducingthecostsofcivilaircraftparts.Tomeetthisdemand,aircraftmanufacturesandjobshopscontractedtosupplypartstothemhavebeenworkinghardtoreducecostandimprovemanufacturingtechnologyandproductivity.Thenumberofaircraftproducedbythemanufacturersofsmalljetaircraftisincreasingatamuchfasterratethanthenumberofaircraftproducedbymanufacturersmoreorlessspecializinginlargeraircraft,suchasBoeingandAirbus.Despitethesteadygrowthofdemand,jobshopsundercontractwiththeseaircraftmanufactuersarebeingfacedwithincreasingpressuresforcostreduction.TheemergenceofSoutheastAsiancountriescapableofproducingpartsatlowcosthasmadepricecompetitionfiercer.TheChinese南京工程學(xué)院畢業(yè)設(shè)計(jì)說(shuō)明書(論文)第2頁(yè)aircraftindustryisburstingwithenergybecausejobshopsinChinacannowcompetewithJapanesejobshopsinleadtimeandqualityinadditiontobeingableproducepartsatlowercosts.Giventheseglobaltrends,itcanbesaidthattheJapaneseaircraftindustryspositionisdelicateinthecompetitivemarket.Inspiteoflead-timeandqualitysuperiority,theJapaneseaircraftindustryisfightingasteeplyuphillbattleinpricecompetition.Tohelpcopewiththesituationasamachinetoolmanufacturer,SNKhasdevelopedUHP-120B,anadvanced5-axisultra-high-speedhorizontalprofilerthatisatoncemostcost-effectiveandhighlyproductive.Therestofthisaircraftintroducesthenewprofiler.2.Background:BriefhistoryofProfilerDevelopmentatSNKSincethedevelopmentofSM-13SparMill(with13numericallycontrolledaxes)in1967,SNKhasdevelopedmanymachinetoolsdesignedforaircraftpartsmachiningandfive-axisprofiles,anddeliveredmanymachinestospecialtyjobshopsbothinJapanandabroad.Oneofthelargermachinesrecentlydevelopedanddeliveredisatwo-gantry,A&B-axis-type,three-spindlefive-axisprofilerwitha64-meter-longbedwitha4-meter-wideworkingsurface.Theseprofilersareverticalspindlemachinesthatenabletheoperatortosetupalargeworkpieceonthebedinastableposition.Astimepassed,however,thewayaircraftpartsaremanufacturedhaschanged:machiningofforgings,whichusedtobethemethodofmanufacturingaircraftparts,begantobereplacedbythemethodofmanufacturingaircraftpartsoutofsolidmaterialinordertoreducethenumberandweightofparts.Thismeantremovingmostofthematerialduringmachining.Useofhighspeedmachining,whichisdesignedtoincreaseproductivityalsodramaticallyincreasedthevolumeofmetalremovedperhour,makingverticalspindlemachinesanunrealisticchoicefromthestandpointofchipremoval.南京工程學(xué)院畢業(yè)設(shè)計(jì)說(shuō)明書(論文)第3頁(yè)Tomeetthechangingneeds,SNKdevelopedHPS-4B,alarge5-axishigh-speed,horizontal,tilting-table-typeprofilerpartsoutofsolidmaterial,easysetupandefficientchipremoval.Thenewmachinewasputonexhibitatthe1998Chicagoshowandwashailedbyaircraftpartsjobshops.Since,however,HPS-4Bisalargermachinewitha210mmachiningenvelope,itwastoolargeandtooexpensiveforsmallerjobshops.Todemonstratethesuperiorityofthemachineconceptandeasyoperationofferedbythistypeofmachine,SNKdevelopedamachinebasedonasimilarconcept.Thismachine,HPS-120B,isacompactandreasonably-priced5-axishigh-speedhorizontalprofilerandwasexhibitedatthe2000Chicagoshow.Thismachinewasacclaimedforitsperformanceandeconomyandhasnowbecomeoneofthegreatestvalue-addedmodelsoftheSNKprofilers.Marketneeds,however,havechangedrapidly,andhasbeenincreasingpressureforcostreduction,asmentionedearlier.Recognizingtheneedforahigh-speedprofilercapableofperformingmachiningwithunprecedentedefficiency,SNKdevelopeditsnewest5axisultra-high-speedhorizontalprofiler,UHP-120B,thatinheritstheacclaimedfeaturesoftheHPSseriesofprofilers,andputthemachineonexhibitatthe2001EMOshow.3.UHP-120B:DevelopmentgoalsandPerformanceTheaimofdevelopmentofUHP-120Bistooffertousersacost-effectivemachinethatboostsproductivityinthemachiningofmedium-andsmall-sizedpartsofaluminum,amaterialwidelyusedinaircraftapplications.UsingHPS-120B,whichhasprovenperformanceinthefieldofhigh-speedmachining,asabasemachine,SNKdevelopedUHP-120Bthroughextensiveresearchanddevelopment.Therestofthissectionintroducesprincipaltechnologiesincorporatedintothenewmachinetoachievethegoalsofthemachine.南京工程學(xué)院畢業(yè)設(shè)計(jì)說(shuō)明書(論文)第4頁(yè)Forinformationonthemachinesmainspecifications,pleaseseeNewProductNewsinthisreport.Technologytoachievehighproductivity(1)Developinghigh-speedhigh-powerspindleunitItisgenerallysaidthatthereisnolimittocuttingspeedsusedinthemachiningofaluminumtomanufactureaircraftparts.Thekeytoincreasingproductivityinsuchmachiningistofindawaytoachievehighmetalremovalratesatahighcuttingspeeds.Tothisend,wedevelopedanew75KW,32.000min1,high-speedhigh-powerspindleunitwithacompact,powerfuldrivemotorforthenewprofiler,thishigh-performancespindleunitranksamongthehighestintermsofspindlespeedandpowerforthespindlenosetaperused.ThespindleunitofthestandardconfigurationisequippedforHSk-E63tools,butitcanbemodifiedforusewithBT40orotherequippedwithanunder-racelubricationsystemtoenhancereliabilityofhigh-speedmachiningd
