They all have the basic ability of English language study. They can cooperate and communicate with each other though their learning sk

Of course, they are eager to know much about first aid, especially how to give first aid correctly according to different injuries, such as burns, animal bites etc. Analysis of the lesson(二、教材分析)1. The first period of the new unitUnit 5, FIRST AID FOR BURNS2. Leading in to

4、 the topic of first aid for burns by showing pictures and discussing what we should do if those accidents in the pictures happen, of course, drawing their attention to how to offer help properly.3. Getting much about first aid and broadening their eyeside by learning the text.4. Improving the readin

Enable students to talk about some common injuries in our daily life and think about how to deal with them.B. Understand the text and try to find out what first aid we should

6、give to deal with burns.C. Understand the details about the text and learn causes, types and characteristics of burns, especially first aid treatment for burns.2. Language aim Get some key words and phrases, such as, organ; ray; liquid; swell; bandage; electric shock; squeeze out; in place.3. Teachi

7、ng important pointsA. Learn some causes, types, characteristics of burns, and first aid treatment for burns.B. What are the characteristics of burns? How can we do first aid treatment for burns according to the characteristics of burns?C. What should we pay attention to in daily life and what should

Individual, pair or group work to finish each task.4. Discussion5. A tape recorder and some hanging pictures.6. A smal

9、l blackboard with two sides. Teaching Procedures(五、教學(xué)過程)Step : Warming up and leading in (5-7 minutes)一. Questions given: 1. Whats first aid? 2. Can you mention any common injuries in our daily life and how to deal with them?二. Discussion Divide the class into 8 groups to discuss what kind of first

10、aid they can give according to the pictures on P33. Students can have a variety of answers.三. Conclusion Sum up what first aid is, then add that it is important to get some common sense about first aid and do it properly.Step: Pre-reading (3-5 minutes) Show the hanging picture prepared and get the s

11、tudents to describe the picture and tell what has happened. ( The picture is the one at the bottom of page 33.) Ask the students to think about and discuss the following questions:1. Have you or someone you know ever been burned?2. If you get burned, how do you feel? What does the burn look like?3.

12、If you hear the mother screaming, will you help her? What will you do to help her?4. Do you know how to give the right first aid?Step : Reading (26-29 minutes)1. Get the students to preview the reading text to guess what the text is mainly about. (about 3 minutes)Look at the title of the text first,

13、 then the subtitle in the text and the picture in the reading text, to predict what it mainly talks about.2. Get the students to listen to the text and get the general idea then give them a few minutes to rearrange the correct order of some topics covered in the text. ( about 6 minutes needed) (show

Ask the students to scan the first two parts quickly to get some general idea, and then check

15、 their understanding by asking some comprehending questions. (about 4 minutes) Questions: What are the functions of the skin? How can we get burnt?4. Ask the students to go through the third and fourth parts and try to answer the following questions. ( about 4 minutes) Questions: How many types of b

16、urns are mentioned and what are they? What are the characteristics of burns? Can you label the following pictures with first degree burn, second degree burn and third degree burn?(Show the pictures and ask them to do it.)5. Ask the students to read the last part of first aid treatment carefully, the

17、n have a competition and ask them to judge whether the following treatment is right or wrong by listening. (about 7 minutes) Sam knocked over a kettle full of boiling water onto his legs. His legs became red, swollen and covered with blisters. Sam broke the blisters and poured icy water from the fri

18、dge onto the skin.( ) While ironing clothes, Miss Good accidentally touched the iron. Her wrist blistered and became watery. It hurt a lot. She put her wrist under the cold water tap and then kept placing cool, clean, damp cloths on it until it was less painful. Then she went to see the doctor.( ) M

19、rs. Caseys sleeve caught fire while she was cooking. Her arm looked terrible but it didnt hurt. The skin was charred. Her husband took off her blouse and picked off bits of the blouse stuck to the burn. He then placed butter on the burn and covered it with a wet bandage.( ) After an hour in the sun,
